The tongue is a muscle.

Technically speaking the three most importants aspects of singing are Breathing, Breathing and Breathing!
BREATHING management is the single most important physical technique and must be addressed or you will never sing very well. It’s a simple as that. No tension in neck or jaw. Not too much movement as you take your breaths. You’re feeling the expansion in the lower rib area and it helps to think of singing right into your back. Really get the air in there! Your posture makes a big difference. To sing from the diaphragm you really need to stand relaxed with no chest raising or shoulders moving up and down. Just concentrate the energy in your lower abdomen and around your mid section.
