In my last post I wrote a little about singing, confidence and the performer. One of the best tips I can give any performer either aspiring or seasoned is to know your stuff. Rehearse as much as you can. Being confident that you know your material will go a long way to ensuring you have an enjoyable performing experience. Never underestimate the value of this. It will help to compensate any nerves you may be experiencing when your actually onstage. One of the most frequent things I hear in my lessons is “Why did this sound so much better at home?” People even get nervous singing in front of ME! Their vocal coach!! There’s no silver bullet that will completely and forever eradicate the fear of performing. It is, after all, a fairly daunting prospect for most people. However I do believe that if you have prepared well and are confident in the knowledge of this it will alleviate your concerns and fears to a large extent.
